Legacy: Daughter and Sister

These thoughts on Emily's legacy also come from her brother, Matthew.

Jane smiles like Emily when she was little - a tooth-full grin from ear to ear that will live on in our hearts and on Jane's beautiful face.

Emily would be happy to know that we try to live up to her unconditional love of people. She would want us all to feel the way those kids felt after the shows at YGP - full of energy and compliments, looking forward to the next performance and more time having fun together.

She will look down from heaven and be happy to see us caring for each other the same way she cared for us. No birthday or holiday or special moment went by when we didn't get a greeting or a surprise from her. We must put the same amount of effort that she did into making sure people feel loved and included.

Her presence will be felt all the time if we know where to look for it. Keep her in your mind and she will present herself in infinite ways.

A good deed done for a stranger

An elk in a meadow

Someone (not her!) eating a lobster roll

A messy unorganized closet

A tap dance

A Bigfoot sighting

Or when a wild guess is correct in a game of Trivial Pursuit

Keep her in your heart and mind and you will find something to smile about. And she will like that.
